DR. DAVE'S FITNESS FACTS
A recent report in the Journal of the American Medical Association stated that over 50% of all NFL players are obese.
Researchers used a formula called body mass index (BMI), which uses height and weight to determine if a person is obese.
This formula does not take into account the amount of muscle that a person has. Because the NFL players have a large amount of muscle, BMI calculations are not suitable for this population.
The only accurate method of determining obesity is through body composition assessment. Body composition assessment is also a useful tool for determining ideal body weight and fat loss goals.
